EmploymentWorks (EW) is a proven program that offers employment preparedness training and support, combined with job sampling and hands-on work experience to autistic youth, adults, and persons with disabilities. This initiative, based on a manualized curriculum, has been tested and implemented nationally for over 6 years and has a proven record of success in supporting employment access and stability.

 

Job Title: Program Facilitator: Employment Works Full-time

Job Location:  Edmonton

Reports to:  Program Coordinator, EmploymentWorks

Job Summary:  The Program Facilitator EW works as a collaborative member of a team to assist autistic youth, adults, and others with developmental disabilities to learn employment-related skills and participate in the labour market. The Program Facilitator supports the development and implementation of programming, learning modules, and support plans. Additionally, the Program Facilitator coordinates and provides job sampling opportunities with onsite job coaching in-line with established curriculum(s) to increase participant independence in employment-related skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Program Coordinator(s), support vocational development across teen and adult services
  • Assist with training of community-based employers under the supervision and direction of the Program Coordinator(s)
  • Demonstrate understanding of principles of adult learning and job coaching related to employment development
  • Collect data for purposes of program evaluation
  • In consultation with the Program Coordinator(s), balance the needs of the employer & employee to ensure a successful job experience
  • Adapt goals while implementing strategies (e.g. self-management, video modeling) that assist participants with achieving success
  • Create teaching plans and learning modules for assigned participants under the direction of the Program Coordinator(s)
  • Support participants post-program with achieving employment goals
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of vocational components with adult services
  • Prepare instructional materials as needed
  • Collaboratively prepare and plan activities daily
  • Provide administrative support as requested by Program Coordinators
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or similar combined education and experience
  • 1 year of experience working with people with autism
  • Familiarity with online delivery methods
  • Familiarity with employment supports
  • Familiarity with and ability to implement adult learning principles
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong desire to work with adults with autism and their support systems
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Participate in ongoing training
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle
  • Clear Police Information Check, Clean Intervention Record check, and valid First Aid with CPR.
